Reporting to the Operations Superintendent Rod Mill role and based at our Laverton site, the Rod Mill Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving the operational performance of the Rod Mill crew. You will lead with desired crew — balancing safety, productivity, and cost efficiency while developing a high-performing team.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring full compliance with EHS policies, leading proactive safety initiatives, and driving continuous risk reduction across the operation
  • Provide clear communication, coaching, and performance management while building team capability and supporting employee development
  • Lead and drive Rod Mill operations to achieve production targets, optimise yield, minimise downtime, and maximise equipment availability.
  • Analyse daily performance, investigate delays, and implement continuous improvement initiatives aligned with manufacturing plans.
  • Coordinate resources effectively, support production schedules, and collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure reliable operations.
  • Manage and optimise staffing, control overtime, and ensure efficient use of resources to meet operational,5S and financial targets.

 

 

Shift: 12 hours rotating shifts (days and nights) + Overtime

What you will bring:

  • Mechanical Tertiary education or Mechanical trade background preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience, ideally within the steel industry or heavy manufacturing
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Passion for delivering results, with a track record of improving operational efficiency, minimising delays and optimising mill performance
  • Solid leadership capability with experience in supervising and coaching diverse teams
  • Strong focus on safety, quality and customer outcomes, with a commitment to continuous improvement
