Networks and Communications Team Lead
About the role
The Unified Communications Team Lead is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and implementation of network and unified communications infrastructure. This includes overseeing procedures related to the identification, prioritisation, and resolution of incidents. Additionally, the role involves managing and coordinating the unified communications team to ensure effective monitoring, tracking, and resolution of issues.
This role primarily interacts with the Service Delivery Manager, IT Infrastructure leads, IT business partners and InfraBuild’s vendor partners to ensure operational alignment in the effective delivery of a high-quality service to the business.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Develop critical initiatives around networking and unified communications infrastructure.

Assess near and long-term network capacity needs and participate in system designs as required.

Work with key stakeholders on upcoming maintenance, network upgrades, enhancements, network outages, issue diagnoses and troubleshooting technical problems.

Hands-on administration of network, switches, routers, unified communications servers and wireless network equipment.

Monitors effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; assists with development and implementation strategies for improving the efficiency, reliability, and performance of these systems.

Provides technical guidance and leadership to develop the team by setting and managing objectives, delegating tasks and deadlines, coaching, and setting the right example in technical approach, professional behaviour, and positive attitude.
Technical Skills:
-
Extensive experience with networking and voice systems
-
Experience managing a unified communications team
-
In depth technical background in network infrastructure technologies comprising of WAN, LAN, Wireless, Voice, Fax, Internet and Firewalls including communication security protocols

Ability to monitor compliance to service level agreements and engage with vendor partners

Strong organisational skills, customer service skills and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

Effective stakeholder engagement and communication (written and verbal) skills with the ability to create concise technical documentation and reports
Preferred experience in:
WAN (VeloCloud), LAN (Cisco Switches), Wireless (Aruba, Cisco)
Voice (TIPT, Teams)
Firewall (Palo Alto)
Fax (OpenText)
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network, Telecommunications or Information Technology, or combination of education and related experience

Cisco CCNP, CCNP wireless (or similar vendor certifications)

ITIL certification preferred.

Understanding of network switching and routing as related to Unified Communications

Practical knowledge of application and network infrastructure protocols

Knowledge of emerging technologies, practices and trends in networks and telecommunications
