Electrical Engineer - Laverton

Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer Automation and based at our Laverton site. you will provide electrical engineering leadership and support to the Laverton Steel Mill, enabling safe, reliable, and continuously improved operations.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Support maintenance teams, perform root cause analysis of equipment and process failures, and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop project specifications, upgrade or replace obsolete systems, and deliver maintenance and capital projects on time, within cost, and to performance targets.
  • Lead automation projects end-to-end, including scoping, technical design, cost-benefit analysis, and coordination of contractors and consultants.
  • Deliver technical expertise in SCADA, PLC, MES Automation and HMI systems, including validation of automation and plant control systems.
  • Providing support to the Laverton Steel Mill cranes department
  • Lead and promote a strong safety culture by driving employee engagement, proactive hazard identification, and continuous risk management.

 What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechatronics Engineering or similar.
  • 3-5+ years of engineering experience in an industrial environment
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a strong track record in equipment diagnostics and fault finding
  • Deep commitment to safety, with solid understanding of legislative requirements and safe work practices
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across all organisational levels
  • Required Technical Knowledge
    • PLC programming and diagnosis (Allen-Bradley regarded)
    • SCADA Experience (PlantSCADA / Citect regarded)
    • Reading and fault finding with electrical drawings


Familiar with Technical Knowledge Regarded

    • AS/NZS 4024 (Safety of machinery)
    • SAP S/4HANA
    • Industrial Networks
    • Motor Control / VSDs
    • High-voltage power distribution systems.
