Afternoon Shift Supervisor

About The Role

Steelforce is looking for a self-driven individual to join our Horningsea Park warehouse as an Afternoon Shift Supervisor.

The hours for this role are 2 PM – 10 PM, Monday to Friday.

Our Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the safety, manufacturing, and logistics operations during the afternoon shift. You will coordinate daily shift activities, including managing production staff, ensuring employee performance and safe operations, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

Your priorities include: 

  • Managing a team of Operators and Despatch Coordinators 
  • Ensuring all WHS management system requirements are met and safety standards are maintained 
  • Leading and managing the shift to ensure the production and output KPIs are met 
  • Work collaboratively with key internal stakeholders 
  • Identify and report on opportunities for improvement initiatives 
  • Ensuring clear and consistent communication across the team – especially during toolbox talks and shift handovers
  • Allocating appropriate manning and ensuring employees are trained, fit, qualified and competent to effectively run operations 

 
You are an experienced leader with a background in manufacturing or a related heavy industry. You’re skilled in safety leadership, building strong internal and external relationships, adapting to shifting priorities, and taking a solutions-focused approach to challenges.


You will have: 

  • Proven experience supervising or managing a large team in manufacturing or a similar industry
  • Strong people leadership – authentic, accountable, and supportive
  • Experience in the steel industry
  • Solid understanding of safety management systems and the ability to build a strong safety culture
  • Excellent communication skills and computer proficiency
  • Experience in hazard identification and implementing effective safety solutions
  • High-level problem-solving, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Experience with implementing lean systems and driving process improvement
  • Forklift Licence (desirable)
  • Heavy Vehicle Licence (desirable)
  • Experience in heavy vehicle management (desirable)
