Transport Supervisor
About the role
The position of Transport Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of safety, performance and leadership for a team of allocators and company drivers. You will communicate with all parties in the recycling supply chain and respond to all requests to achieve agreed objectives, optimising profitability and business efficiency whilst maintaining a strong customer focus and a zero harm attitude. The role is based out of our Hemmant site.
Key focus of the role:
- Oversee the scheduled collections and deliveries for the recycling internal and contractor fleet
- Ensure vehicles and equipment are maintained and roadworthy
- Lead investigations into all significant transport related safety / environmental incidents and develop suitable corrective actions addressing root cause and completed by due date
- Negotiate freight rates with carriers through to completion with appropriate rate cards developed and implemented into the weighbridge system or similar
- Understand and comply with and actively participate in training to ensure compliance with safety and environment policies and guidelines
- Monthly reporting
- Develop, implement, monitor and report on annual cost saving initiatives relating to transport, operations or trading as planned
- You will be a proven people leader, apply sound people management practices and problem-solving techniques to build the capability of employees to meet current and future business needs.
You will have experience in the following:
- Full drivers licence
- General freight and transport industry experience
- Experience driving a structured safety management system
- In-depth knowledge of the transport industry and regulatory requirements
- Flexibility to travel to other operational sites as needed
- Proficient in MS Office suite
- Ability to manage people
- Strong leadership, problem solving and customer service skills
