Electrical Team Leader

About the Role

The role of the Electrical Team Leader is to co-ordinate and undertake the electrical maintenance services and capital development across the Geelong Wire Mill. You will be focusing on increasing equipment reliability and meeting production requirements, whilst ensuring that standards for safety, efficiency and cost performance are met.

 

This is a day shift role and the hours are from 7.30am to 4pm (start/finish 15 mins either side for shift handover). Hourly rate is $63.93 + Super + Allowances.

 

Duties will include:

  • Lead and execute electrical projects. Ensure optimum electrical maintenance efficiency by allocating labour, prioritising work and supervising daily and project tasks.
  • Implement electrical maintenance plans to ensure an increase in preventative maintenance versus breakdown maintenance.
  • Manage the electrical team while also working on the tools where required.
  • Achieve high levels of equipment reliability and team flexibility and skill, whilst minimising costs.
  • Review electrical maintenance delays and identify and fix cause.
  • Ensure team members are trained and accredited in core safety skills, operation of machinery and any mobile equipment.
  • Identify, record and conduct hazard assessments within work area.
  • Ensure job numbers and hours are recorded in the Maintenance SAP system to allow a development of maintenance history and correct cost recording.
  • Nominated as the High Voltage representative and signatory for Geelong Wire Mill.

 

About your Experience

You are a high performer with a clear understanding of legislative requirements for electrical safety.  A strong communicator who can take ownership of your work, work autonomously as well as part of a team. You are passionate about driving outcomes and building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.

 

In order to succeed in this role, you will need:

 

  • A Grade Electrical licence is necessary.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering (TAFE Advanced Diploma or previous TAFE equivalent being minimum standard).
  • Significant experience in electrical maintenance within heavy industry or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing trade teams and contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience with PLC program development, commissioning and fault finding.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Standards for electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance plans.
  • Leadership and team coordination in a maintenance environment.
  • Proficiency in SAP or equivalent CMMS for job tracking and cost recording.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for electrical systems.
