We are seeking an experienced afternoon shift Industrial Electrician to join our dynamic team in Brisbane, supporting our operations across steel manufacturing, processing and distribution. With the 2032 Brisbane Olympics driving unprecedented demand for infrastructure and construction, this is an opportunity to join a business that is expanding, investing, and leading from the front – right here in Queensland.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, fault-finding, repair, and optimisation of electrical and control systems critical to steel processing and heavy industrial operations. You’ll work across large-scale equipment, automation systems, drives, conveyors, and plant machinery, ensuring reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

 

Hours suited to work/life balance – 2pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday and 12pm to 5pm on a Friday! Overtime available and paid at overtime rates.

 

Pay rate - $52.00 - $60.00 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications) + 15% afternoon shift loading + 12% super + bonus + overtime, with potential to grow your income as you build experience with us!

 

What you will be doing:

 

  • Trouble-shoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical faults across heavy industrial plant
  • Carry out equipment audits, machine installs and preventative maintenance tasks
  • Program and maintain drives, scanners, and electronic control modules
  • Troubleshoot PLC systems and assist in programming (training provided if required)
  • Identify operational improvements through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Reduce downtime and improve overall plant reliability through proactive maintenance
  • Assist with mechanical tasks where required (belt tracking, lubrication, bearings, chains, motors, gearboxes

What you will bring?

  • Unrestricted Electrical Licence (QLD)
  • Trade Qualification: Certificate III Electrotechnology or higher
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
  • Strong understanding of industrial controls, PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and automation systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Mechanically savvy, with experience working alongside pneumatic and mechanical systems

 

The below skills/experience will also be highly regarded but is not essential:

 

  • PLC programming experience
  • Experience with hydraulics & proportional valves
  • Experience with MAINPAC or other CMMS platforms
  • Strong Microsoft Office and report-writing skills
