Warehouse Manager

About the role

As a Warehouse Manager, you will work collaboratively with the Branch Manager, to implement the operational targets for the site. 


You will lead and coordinate the operational activities of the Warehouse including Storepeople and Machine Operators to maintain continuity of supply, sustain the drive for operational excellence and quality of work while promoting a safe workplace and an and efficient working environment.


Your responsibilities include:

  •     Lead a small work team, or designated work area along with managing contractors in the area
  •     Efficiently balance time between providing communication, direction, leadership and co-ordination of activities, and the responsibilities of an operator or store person. 
  •     Full responsibility in the administration of daily operations, steel processing, logistics and distribution of steel products to our customers, meeting DIFOT.
  •     Active involvement in supply chain improvement plans, stock takes and inventory control
  •     Assess and resolve any problems or issues as they arise or escalate for resolution 
  •     Mentoring and motivating the team to build capability and ensure operational efficiency on site
  •     Driving a strong safety record, completion of all mandatory safety audits and practices, communicating safety related information to the team and your manager.

About your experience

You are an autonomous manager, with knowledge and experience of health and safety, prioritising a strong safety culture. A strategic leader with an innovative mindset and a passion for continuous improvement, you are proactive in influencing daily outcomes.  

 

Other attributes:

  •     Previous experience leading teams in a production or warehousing and logistics environment 
  •     A team player with a positive attitude towards work and staff engagement
  •     Demonstrated experience of being a hands-on problem solver with strong planning and organisational skills
  •     Have some exposure to Steel, Building products, Industrial manufacturing or Construction industry
  •     Solid communication skills allowing you to interact with a range of people from storepersons, drivers, customers and senior managers.  
  •     Exposure to simple lean tools such as 5S Functional/ Technical Skills & Competencies
  •     National Certificate of Competency - crane Operator and forklift 
  •     MS Office proficient and SAP or similar ERP systems experience, (desired but not essential).
