Business Development Manager

About the role

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for deployment of InfraBuild Reinforcing’s sales strategy and project delivery performance against contracted projects for the supply of reinforcing steel, associated products and services.  This role is pivotal in developing customer partnerships to allow for early engagement in identifying projects and providing front line customer service to major Tier 1 clients in Canberra and the surrounding area.
 

The successful candidate must have significant experience in the local construction or industrial market and bring established Tier 1 construction client relationships, that enable immediate impact.  A key outcome of the role is to deliver on budget performance of key sales KPI’s as well as working alongside our internal project delivery model, commercial management, scheduling and operations teams.
 

Your responsibilities will include:
 

  • Maintain and develop InfraBuild Reinforcing’s market position by building on our existing and new client relationships and expanding market share

  • Project identification and budget forecasting

  • Bid development and negotiation

  • Lead project delivery phase for one or more projects in accordance with valid, executed contracts

  • Develop strong customer relationships/liaise on day-to-day project management issues and negotiate project critical matters

  • Preparing and submitting regular reports on the project’s status with regard to financial position, progress, technical and commercial issues

  • Conduct root cause investigations and provide feedback to the business for error rectification and continuous improvement opportunities

  • Provide alternative options for product application specific to the project needs

  • Identify profitable opportunities to sell non-core products and services

  • Identify project risks, work within WHS policies, procedures and workplace standards

 

This is a new and exciting opportunity to join a market leader and play a key role in some of Canberra’s most significant projects.  You will be passionate and enthusiastic about the building industry and what InfraBuild has to offer in the market.  Your previous experience in the building/construction industry and understanding of the major infrastructure project cycle is paramount to your success in this role.
 

To be successful in this role, you will have:
 

  • Local experience in a sales role ideally within the commercial/civil construction or steel reinforcing industry

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen and experience forecasting and controlling of project budgets

  • A qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering, desirable

  • Knowledge of reinforcement drawings

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Australian Standards and key construction system techniques

  • Strong reasoning and decision making skills
