Safety Business Partner

About the role

As the Safety Business Partner, this is an exciting opportunity for you provide positive engagement, guidance, and support through your strong Safety Leadership style.

 

Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager you will be responsible for deploying initiatives to continually review and improve on our workplaces for our employees, contractors, and customers.

 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Lead, implement and support safety processes and practices across multiple sites

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand how safety and wellbeing can be improved

  • Identify change and support the business with change management activities

  • Leading your sites through their Safety journey through strong engagement

  • Promoting awareness of safety initiatives and communications

  • Provide coaching, technical safety training, ongoing mentoring to leaders, site Instructors and contractor controllers.

  • Review and appraise processes and controls on site to assess for adequacy, compliance and opportunities for improvement

  • Facilitate incident investigations, hazard identification, risk assessments and coach sites on learnings to prevent any harm to individuals

 

As a Safety Business Partner, you will demonstrate experience working within and deploying Safety Management Systems.  Strong communication skills across multileveled hierarchies are a must, with the ability to influence teams and individuals while maintaining an empathetic approach to challenges, ideas and solutions.  You demonstrate the ability to implement change and drive continuous improvement via excellent communication and analytical skills.


You will:

 

  • Be tertiary qualified in Health and Safety; minimum undergraduate degree

  • Have a Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment

  • Be experienced in conducting risk assessments and incident investigations

  • Be effective at influencing and coaching a wide variety of stakeholders

  • Have an innovative and creative approach to safety with a proactive attitude

  • Be passionate about your profession, engaging with people and have a desire for career development


The ideal candidate will be a strong influencer with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong focus on safety and quality. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
