Logistics Coordinator
About The Role
Tonkin Steel is looking for a capable and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join our Cairns team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, covering maternity leave. The role is available for an immediate start.
This is a full-time, office-based position, working Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (flexibility required).
This is a key role coordinating daily truck runs, managing driver schedules, supporting warehouse operations, and ensuring safety and delivery compliance—all whilst keeping operations running smoothly under pressure.
Your key duties will include:
- Coordinate runs for drivers
- Release picking orders to the warehouse floor
- Maintain and manage safety documentation and delivery records
- Communicate effectively with warehouse, operations, and sales teams
- Provide direction and handover to the afternoon shift
- Organise vehicle maintenance and breakdown responses
- Participate in daily DIPH (Daily Integrated Planning Huddle) meetings
What you will need to succeed:
- Proven experience in logistics coordination or transport scheduling
- Strong understanding of warehouse systems
- Experience with SAP, Pronto, or similar platform highly regarded
- Ability to lead, direct and support a small team
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Able to stay calm and organised under pressure
