Branch Manager
About The Role:
Join a 2026 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work Gold Winner and 2026 Sustainability Champion recognised by the World Steel Association. Play a key role in shaping our performance across our ARC business.
Reporting to the Area Manager and based at our Cairns site, you will take end-to-end ownership of the branch’s people, safety, performance and profitability. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance operational excellence with sales growth, customer engagement and strong commercial outcomes.
You will lead the branch to achieve operational and financial targets while maintaining a safe, efficient and high-performing operation. Working closely with regional leadership and internal support teams, you’ll be accountable for delivering daily results and positioning the Cairns branch for sustainable growth across residential, commercial and industrial market segments.
What you will be doing:
- Leading and developing a small, high-performing team with a strong customer and safety culture
- Driving sales growth and expanding the branch’s customer base across key market segments
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, contractors and internal stakeholders
- Identifying new market opportunities and implementing local growth strategies aligned to regional plans
- Take full P&L accountability, including cost control, margins, debtors and inventory management
- Oversee daily production and distribution activities to meet operational and service targets
- Champion safety by leading from the front and ensuring compliance with OHS, environmental and regulatory requirements
- Implement local business plans aligned with regional strategies and initiatives
You are an experienced operational leader, ideally from an industrial manufacturing or logistics environment, with a strong understanding of what it takes to run a safe, compliant and commercially successful branch. You bring proven leadership capability and thrive in environments where safety discipline and operational rigour are critical to success.
You will be rewarded with:
- Permanent, full-time hours with job security
- Promotional opportunities, long-term career
- Participation in quarterly / annual company Bonus
- Free on-site parking
Primary Benefits:
We offer a range of benefits designed to support you at work and beyond:
- Paid parental leave that goes further - 20 weeks paid Primary Carer Leave and 3 weeks Partner Leave, plus superannuation contributions during unpaid leave (eligibility applies)
- Health cover at discounted rates - Access corporate rates with nib Health Insurance to support you and your family
- Everyday savings - Access a wide range of employee discounts across major brands including retail, travel and lifestyle
- Flexible vehicle options - Novated leasing options available, providing a tax-effective way to finance and manage your vehicle
- Support when you need it - Confidential counselling and wellbeing support through our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and Sonder, available to you and your immediate family
- Invest in your development - Access to learning platforms and development opportunities to support your career growth
What you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in sales, account management or business development, ideally within industrial, manufacturing or logistics sectors
- A strong customer focus, with the ability to identify opportunities, grow market share and build long-term client relationships
- Some exposure to operational environments, or the ability to quickly develop capability in operational leadership and branch management
- Commercial acumen with the ability to translate sales strategy into profitable growth
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments with competing priorities
While candidates with direct industrial branch management experience will be highly regarded, this role is best suited to someone with a strong operational and safety-focused background, rather than a purely sales-driven or non-industrial environment.
