About the role

The State Sales Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving top-line revenue growth, margin expansion, and customer retention across a defined geographic or strategic territory.This role leads a team of Account Managers (AMs) as well as the Internal Sales Team, developing and executing territory and account strategies aligned to national goals.

The State Sales Manager acts as a key bridge between customer-facing sales activity and the wider commercial and operational functions of the business.They are responsible for building a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement, while ensuring the delivery of tailored customer solutions that meet evolving market needs.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and grow customer accounts to achieve sales targets
  • Provide quotes, negotiate orders, and manage pricing strategies
  • Monitor sales performance, forecasts, and delivery outcomes
  • Stay informed on competitor activity and customer needs
  • Prepare reports and use critical thinking and data to guide decisions’
  • Lead, coach and mentor a high performing internal & external sales team

  • Proven B2B sales experience, preferably within the steel, construction, or manufacturing sectors, but not critical
  • Strong Experience leading and mentoring a sales team
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while achieving team goals
  • Proficiency in CRM systems
  • Current driver’s license
