GFG Alliance Australia operates an end to end mining, steel, construction and energy business. With over 160 sites and more than 6700 people, we provide steel for Australia's leading infrastructure projects.

Based in Adelaide supporting both SIMEC Iron Ore and Liberty Primary Steel, you will manage the contracts for major contractors and sourcing events for the Mining and Primary Steel business in alignment with the category and business plans.

 

You will provide advice on the strategic and transactional aspects of sourcing and is accountable for end-to end sourcing activities, providing leadership and expertise in strategic sourcing (strategy and execution).

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Facilitate the sourcing event through the life of the goods and services sourcing process
  • Prepare and facilitate relevant RFX packages on a risk-based approach
  • Critically review contract KPI's to ensure competitive advantage is assured and risks are mitigated, and monitor contract performance
  • Coach, Mentor and provide advice on best practice contract and supplier management, contract risk management and assistance with disputes, claims and variations
  • Develop and implement Portfolio / Category Management plans to drive new value for the organisation
  • Enhance contracting partners to leverage strengths and value across the business.

About your experience

You will have experience in managing within a complex organisational environment and are highly skilled in building strong internal and external relationships.

To be successful in this role, you will have the below essential skill and experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in sourcing for and/or management of large, complex contracts across a diverse organisation
  • Background in a procurement in a similar manufacturing, mining, oil and gas or heavy industry environment
  • High level of influencing skills, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level analytical skills with proven ability to model, analyse and summarise data
  • Subject matter expert in market trends and drivers across national and international markets
  • Demonstrated understanding of leading edge sourcing strategies and practices

A member of the GFG Alliance group, Liberty Primary Metals Australia is located at Whyalla, South Australia, approximately 400 kilometres north-west of Adelaide. We operate an integrated steelworks including steel making, blast furnace, coke oven and rolling mill facilities. Producing billet for rolling in Liberty Steel and other manufacturing sites and for export, together with rail and structural steel products. Liberty Primary Metals Australia also incorporates SIMEC Mining.
