Senior Mine Surveyor

About The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Mine Surveyor to lead and coordinate survey activities across our mining operations. In this critical role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality, accurate mine and stockpile surveys that meet statutory, operational, and strategic requirements.

 

Reporting to the Lead Surveyor and working closely with technical teams, you will provide survey leadership, quality assurance (QA/QC), and process improvement initiatives.

Relocation or FIFO options available: Candidates must either relocate to Whyalla or be available to fly in/fly out (FIFO) from Adelaide only.

 

Domestic Relocation included for those residing outside of Whyalla, which includes: 

  • Uplift of goods and relocation allowance (for individuals and immediate family)
  • Travel and temporary accommodation (up to 4 weeks) 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior-level oversight and quality assurance of all mine and stockpile surveys
  • Coordinate and lead survey activities in alignment with strategic mine plans and operational needs
  • Deliver timely and accurate survey control data to production, technical services, and contractor teams
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and sign-off of all survey plans
  • Supervise and develop survey staff, contractors, and support the establishment of safe systems of work
  • Drive process improvement by reviewing new technologies and standardising survey procedures
  • Manage survey data accuracy and reporting systems
  • Contribute to cost control through efficient resource planning and contract oversight

About You:

You are a proactive leader with strong technical expertise in mine surveying and a passion for quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Your ability to maintain strong operational relationships across the multiple disciplines will ensure your success in this role.
 
You will also bring:

  • Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics or Spatial Sciences (highly desirable) 
  • Extensive mine surveying experience within open-pit mining environments 
  • Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) and VTOL certification (desirable) 
  • Strong working knowledge of modern survey equipment, software and industry best practices 
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with a passion for mentoring and developing others 
  • A safety-first mindset and the ability to promote and enforce safe systems of work 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative approach 
  • Current Class C Australian Driver's Licence
