Production Operator

About the role

Due to internal movements, we have an opportunity for a Production Operator to join our Pelletising Team.  The position reports to the relevant Shift Team Leader working 12 hour shifts on an even time roster.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing planned preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure the condition and productive capacity of the Plant assets meets targets and delivers sustainable operations
  • Demonstrate ability to identify faults through the use of fault finding techniques with the ability to troubleshoot and rectify problems
  • Correctly operate the plant and equipment to ensure the condition and productive capacity of the Plant assets meets targets and delivers sustainable operations
  • Working in a professional, timely and safe manner following all SIMEC Mining’s standards and procedures

 

About your experience

To be successful in the role you will be a self-starter with the drive to complete all allocated tasks.  This role will challenge and reward you and it will see you work in a strong team with a focus on safety performance and customer satisfaction.
 

Key criteria:

  • Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering - Essential
  • Dual electrical-instrumentation trade  -  highly advantageous
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

 

About our team

SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore mining operations in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges, south west of Whyalla, consist of three primary mine sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. Our Tahmoor Colliery in New South Wales, is an underground longwall coal mine with an associated coal preparation plant, producing high quality coking coal for global markets. Administration functions and ore pelletising and port facilities are located within the city limits of Whyalla, with corporate functions based in Adelaide and Sydney. 


The Iron Ore business is on an exciting trajectory to expand our mining and processing operations with significant investment over the next three years. Our operations in Tahmoor NSW produce metallurgical coal for the steel making process where the business is currently investing to expand and extend the life of the operations.
